**The more we read and learn about India the more we realize it is one very sad place where human life is little respected if at all.
Women have few rights and rape is common with little, if any, punishment.
The caste system is "illegal" but common and entrenched.
Slavery is common as are young children working in dead end often filthy jobs in polluted work places for little pay. I've seen this with my own eyes.
Poverty is mind boggling and much of the environment is a waste land because of staggering pollution.
One is stunned by the conditions and the endless masses sleeping out on the streets in pretty much every city.
Roads are undeveloped helping to insure endless tragic needless "accidents."
But they do have their endless gods and goddess to pray to, light incense to, bow down to, and for doing pujas, prayers.
They have endless silly stories of their gods and goddesses that are sold to the uneducated masses... who fall for the bs blindly.
Good luck to India and her people to make the changes needed to move forward and become a caring, decent, modern society. Namaste...
**You mamma teaches you well. Really she should be given a credit for it since you are to young to know any thing. Ask your mamma to buy you a ticket to Africa, preferably West. You should come here and see how these people work to survive, you will not last a day but I garanty you will never make such a comment again. Not everything comes served on silver plate my dear, you need to go to Africa so you can start appriciating life more and show more respect to the less fortunate.
**And India thought they had it bad under the British Empire. Ya, they've really progressed alot since they won their independence in 1948.
**Yet we condone Slavery... Look at mostly everyones clothing manufacturing country ! Bed linens and more say - India, Thailand.......sold to us by - Walmart, Target... Christmas shopping coming up and how much stuff is " Made in China ? "
**Another misleading article. I have lived in India long enough to know what's happening there. I agree things are not the best and Indian's don't have great infrastructure and amenities. But one thing is all these low paying labour jobs and slavery are thing of the past. I know how much a plumber or mason charge per day now. It's very difficult to get such people as most of their children are going to school. A few are exploited for their labour but most of them demand money or they don't do the job which can not be done otherwise. In India, there's no fear of high taxes and you can run a household with very less income. If you lost a job life will trudge along happily even if you don't get a job for a year or two. It's not like that in the west, you'r life will turn upside down if you don't have a job. In this article the middle class westerners are compared to the lowest income group in India. I have friends in India who belong to the middle or upper middle class who are mostly into business or IT. Some run colleges, export timber, toys, shipping, computer IT related, there's one guy who is building 400 villas on the outskirts of the city of Chennai (jobs of few of the fellows who came to my mind). You might ask me ... "then what are you doing here?, why don't you go back ? I am ok as of now. When it becomes unmanageable I have to go back. As long as you have to work continuously just for paying bills you are a slave. How many of you can really quit your job and relax for a year? If you can not do that, then you're a slave.
